Originally by: Dal Thrax Hum has anybody let this economist know that low end mineral prices are price controlled by reprocessing NPC goods. This is especially true with Trit that tends to trade just under the price control (which was until the last couple weeks, due to an accident on CCP's part at 2.4 isk.) The current price of Trit and Pyre seems to have more to do with the price control and inputs from the reprocessing of NPC loot then with the mining of those minerals.
Dal
I am of the same opinion that currently trit is under price control, and no matter how much I tell miners they're better off mining scordite people seem to insist on generating large amounts of high end minerals. Lots of high ends = large amounts of construction = high demand for low ends. Though one limiting logistical factor is that trit and pye are nerfed in terms of the value per m3.
I think that the Dr's first blog was good and that people should give him a chance to study the economy more and to examine the mechanisms in game.
Isk generation: NPC trade goods NPC buy orders including LP exchange Ratting Missions
Isk sinks NPC sell orders including skill books and BPOs Charges and various for activities
However, there are also some activities that are ore/mineral sinks. So what proportion of minerals/ore are lost through ships, modules, ammo and other activities. What is the impact of the said activities.
I agree I don't have the features to be a holoreel star. Most people have missed the point that this is Mobsters Online and that carebears are at the bottom of the foodchain. |

One thing I hadn't read about was the nerfing of compression modules and the coupling array trit generator being deleted. I'll be interested to see what happens with the trit price with that price ceiling gone. It may unnerf mining.

Actually, it's more like:
Isk faucet/generation: Mission rewards Bounties NPC buy orders Insurance payouts
Isk sinks: Insurance premiums NPC sell orders CSPA charges Market/contracts charges and tax etc. Station service charges
And I might be forgetting something.

It's already been established that shuttles are almost as good for trit production. The ceiling still exists, it's just a little higher now.
Sorry I didn't mean that as an order it was just a list of isk sources and sinks though I forgot about insurance premium, and insurance on insured/uninsured ships.

Mining Trit-heavy ores will have to be on par with mission running (either hisec/0.0) or ratting/mining (0.0) for nerfing coupling arrays to 'unnerf' Veld mining. If it were worth as much as mining Crok or Ark then the economy of the game would be broken beyond what you could possibly imagine. Trit for 40 isk/u, battleships costing 400m a pop, Titans costing trillions of ISK: mass hysteria.
Quite correct the trit ceiling goes from 2.47 isk up to around the 3.6 isk previously quoted. That would certainly help increase the potential revenue of miners and rat loot refiners.

Originally by: James Duar It's artificial though. The revenues of rat loot refiners are going to be seriously counter-balanced by the increased cost of modules and fittings. The higher price of trit in 0.0 represents a risk valuation piled on top of the Empire price - so even though I already can sell trit for like 3.6 ISK a unit in 0.0, that's going to shoot up to 5 or so if empire climbs to that price, and I'm not going to be any richer at the end of the day since I need to buy my ships back at that price.
Unless you never PvP or lose ships, then you lose from this.
There's a reason why pvpers get annoyed with alliance members that sit around making isk until hostiles turn up then dock. Then the ones only ever making isk complain that no one is defending them (risking ships on their behalf with no benefit).

Post on the development forum to suggest improvements to the market interface (which I agree needs some more work).
What you direct at the Dr. should be economy related rather than an interface to one aspect of the market. The eve economy is not just the market.
